Neil Young wants his fans to continue rocking the free world, but Amazon Music, not Spotify.
On Friday, Young announced a special deal with Amazon Music, giving new subscribers four free months of the streamer. The 76-year-old music icon’s decision comes four days after he asked Spotify to remove his tracks from his service in protest at Spotify’s failure to tackle COVID misinformation in “The Joe” podcast. On Friday, the Neil Young Archives site directed fans to Amazon Music to take advantage of the service’s Premium Unlimited tier offer (at this link for US visitors). Normally, Amazon Music Unlimited (usually $7.99/month) is free for 30 days for new customers.

Amazon Music Unlimited offers access to 75 million songs, ad-free. The e-commerce giant was the first of the big three music services to introduce HD music support, more than two years ago. Earlier on Friday, Young blasted Spotify for its decision to choose Rogan over keeping its music catalog on its platform, and also blasted Spotify for “crappy” audio quality.
