Amazon Music to Stream Kanye West and Drake’s ‘Free Larry Hoover’ Benefit Concert

Thursday’s concert, live from Los Angeles, can be viewed on Amazon Prime Video, the Amazon Music app and its Twitch channel.

Amazon Music and Prime Video announced on Tuesday that they will exclusively livestream the show “Free larry hoover” benefit concert, which features Kanye West and Duck.

The concert will take place at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Thursday at 11 p.m. EST/8 p.m. PST. The event was announced on November 20, just weeks after the two rappers crushed their beef, when you shared photos of them standing side by side, with the music mogul J. Prince.

“We are extremely proud to work with Kanye and Drake on this historic concert to support a cause they are both passionate about, and to collaborate on Amazon for this epic entertainment event,” said Jennifer Salkehead of Amazon Studios, via a press release.

People will now be able to access the “Free Larry Hoover” event for free on Amazon Prime Video, the Amazon Music app, and the Amazon Music Twitch channel. Once completed, the concert will be available for on-demand streaming via Prime Video. Additionally, IMAX will broadcast the benefit concert live to select theaters Thursday across the United States as part of an exclusive one-night-only IMAX Live event.

Ye dedicated the benefit concert to raising awareness of the need for prison and sentencing reform by supporting legal resource groups and community advocates, including organizations such as Ex-Cons for Community and Social Change, Hustle 2.0 and Uptown People’s Law Center.

In a statement announcing the concert, Ye said, “I believe this event will not only raise awareness for our cause, but will prove to people everywhere how much more we can achieve when we put aside our pride and stand up for ourselves. let’s unite.”

In one video shared by Prince on Nov. 8, West said, “I’m making this video to address the ongoing back and forth between me and Drake. Me and Drake shot each other, and it’s time to stop this. He then invited the Canadian rap star to join him on stage “with the ultimate goal of freeing Larry Hoover”.

Hoover was a founding member of the Gangster Disciples, a Chicago street gang. He was sentenced to 150 to 200 years in prison for a murder in 1973, and in 1997, deemed to continue running a criminal enterprise from prison, was sentenced to life. He is currently serving his sentence in solitary confinement at a supermax facility in Colorado.

This summer, a judge denied Hoover’s request to reduce his sentence under the First Step Act, which was signed into law in 2018 in an effort to reduce unnecessarily long federal sentences and improve conditions in federal prisons, according to the Brennan Center.
